SPOILER Summary/Synopsis:

MI6 targets Nyx’s family to force him back to do a job for them. Meanwhile, Lupin has gone to an island controlled by the mercenary named Fox to steal a treasure named Dragon’s Tail. Lupin gets caught and on his escape, discovers Nyx is also there undercover. With Nyx’s cover blown, Fox has him tortured to death to unlock the contents of the Dragon’s Tail disc. Fox demands Lupin hack the password and leaves him to it. As he works, he gets Nyx to wake up. Nyx warns Lupin not to do it or he’ll kill Lupin. Nyx gets shot by Fox, so Lupin gives up the way to crack the disc’s protection. Fox then ties Lupin and Nyx up. Meanwhile outside, Jigen explains to Goemon that Dragon’s Tail is a secret list of agent names. Lupin tweaks Nyx in order to get free of their bonds as MI6 activates their Phase 2 plan for Dragon’s Tail. Bombers lay waste to the island, killing Fox and some of his men.

As Nyx and Lupin make their way out after the bombing, Lupin gets Nyx to reveal that he’s only doing this job to protect his family. Plus, MI6 thinks they have a mole inside that gave up a way to steal Dragon’s Tail, so Nyx is the one to investigate. With MI6 commando agents swarming the island as part of Phase 3, Lupin and Nyx make their way out. Lupin contacts Jigen as they find the disc with Fox’s body. An agent targets Nyx for death and when Percival no longer has a signal from Nyx, he orders Nyx’s family killed. Nyx shows up to fight Percival. Lupin talks to Percival via the agent’s smart phone to reveal what they’ve done. Nyx is about to kill Percival, but Da Vinci stops him and tells him to go back to his family, who’s safe. Da Vinci confirms Lupin’s thought that he betrayed MI6 to Fox. Da Vinci kills Percival, then tells Lupin he can keep the disc since he doesn’t need it.

Thoughts/Review:

Wow. Just wow.

I had expressed this wish in my previous episode review.

With MI6 failing to kill anyone after Lupin revealed he knew they’d cloned Leonardo Da Vinci, realistically, they still need to kill everyone at the First Supper, save their boss (and possibly Nyx). Hopefully, this will be addressed in the next episode.

Well, it certainly was addressed as Lupin’s whole purpose in stealing Dragon’s Tail was to have information on MI6 that would then protect him (and one would presume Goemon, Jigen, and Fujiko, as well as possibly Rob and Rebecca) and for MI6 off their tail. So I’m glad the writers addressed this, as previous run-ins with MI6 have seen the agency not bother with Lupin and company afterward.

Just when you think MI6 couldn’t be portrayed in a more negative light, they are. I doubt the real MI6 are like this, but for the purposes of this series, MI6 is pretty messed up in using one of their former agent’s family in order to force him to work for them again. Not only that, but if Nyx fails, they kill his family anyway. Just jacked up.

I liked how the whole Dragon’s Tail name worked in terms of what happens if you step on the dragon’s tail and wake it up. Certain, Fox learned that the hard way after his island base got bombed to pieces and commandos came in to wipe up the rest.

The surprise for me was Leonardo Da Vinci showing up at the end. He stops Nyx from killing Percival since Nyx’s family is safe and Nyx is free, but then Da Vinci baits Percival into going for a gun, whereby Da Vinci having messed up the gun, kills Percival by apparently having the explode.

It was somewhat funny thinking about Da Vinci being some kind of villain, but after this episode, he’s been firmly established as a force to be reckoned with. I loved how in his final talk with Lupin, Lupin understood Da Vinci was going to be a real challenge for him to deal with.

I think the character of Fox is based off of Dolph Lundgren, specifically his character of Gunner Jensen from The Expendables movies.

In the end, Lupin the Third PART4 19 was quite good for advancing the plot, having a lot of action, and setting the stage for future fun.
